The Wallet

Recently ran across this picture we took when we were moving Cousin Amy last year. There was a trunk of Memaw’s items that Amy had been keeping for years. In the trunk was Memaw’s wallet that had the contents the same as the day she passed. I looked at this picture for quite awhile, thinking how proud she must have been looking at her children, and especially showing them to people and how the photos kept opening and opening and opening. I hope my cousins can look at their parent here can see a little of themselves, or even their kids in these faces, and think about the most important thing we have as humans is a connection to our family. And even though we are scattered everywhere, we still can think about our grandmother that held her family together through all her trials and tribunes to produce these kids, which produced us.
